Memento is HERE!

Well, tonight it will be. The October."Memento" kits are revealing this evening over at Cocoa Daisy. This is one of my most favorite kits to date. I made 16 projects in less than 24 hours! I just couldn't stop making stuff with all the gorgeousness...

I can't wait for you to see the full projects! They will be live on the Cocoa Daisy Gallery, tonight at 9 pm, EST. Our reveal chat starts at 8 pm, EST on the Forum. Hope to see you there!

Ombre THIS!

Hello, hello! It's Monday and that means we have a new challenge waiting for you at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.

Now, before we get down to the challenge details... I have a bit of news. The past several years on the Simon DT have been beyond amazing! Always fun, always inspiring. Ah... but change is in the air and new opportunities are on the horizon! And, I have lots of ideas for more classes to put together too! So... it is time for me to step down from the Simon team and this will be my final challenge with them.

Alrighty! Enough business talk... let's get crafty!

We are talking all things Ombre this week and I decided to put a new ink pad to the test to create a fun and fall inspired tag...
Isn't that wood leaf fabulous? It's even better with some ombre stamping, yes?

And with some more inky fun and doodles..
Here is my final tag!

Happy Fall!

Art. Paint. Journal. Play... A Cover

I recently posted my new Art Journal, complete with decorated cover. I had more fun working on this and guess what? I filmed it! YAY!
In fact, this is a bit new for me. While I love working on mixed media, doing collages, and even tinkering with art journaling here and there... this is the first time for me to approach an actual, store bought journal with the intention of filling all the pages with inky fun play.

So, what does that mean for you?
A new video series, of course!

I intend to film myself each time I work in this journal. I won't be narrating these videos, simply just fast forwarding and adding music. This really will give you a peek into what I am doing, while allowing me to just focus on the process and not so much on creating a teaching style tutorial.

I, of course, will blog about each little video and will give you more details there. But, the videos themselves will just be a short, musical glimpse into my attempt at "official" art journaling... if there is even such a thing? Well, of course not! Art journaling is art journaling, official or not. HA! But, I think you catch my drift, yes?

Alright... so enough chatting! Here is that video:

Fun, yes? As you can see, I approached this without the idea of filling up the entire "canvas." This is key for how I work. I have learned over the years that I am much happier with my finished piece if there is a good deal of negative space left over. What else is notable about this cover? Lots of white, lots of pen work, a bit of stamping, and plenty of watercolor. That's how I roll, people!

Thanks for stopping by and i'll see you soon!

Studio Tour... VIDEO Style!

Almost a year ago, I wrote about simplifying and shared some of my studio set up with you.

Very little has changed since then, actually. Except... I did replace those old and painted metal folding tables (circa 1980) with some flea market wooden tables. This is all a part of my ongoing quest to replace plastics and other yuckies with nice, worn, flea market finds of wood or lovely metal.

Well, I recently got a wild hair and actually clean up the place, so I thought it to be perfect timing to film a little tour...

My supplies are still very minimal and that works great for me! You can read more about that in the post mentioned above and you can see more about that in this video below...

So there you have it! My happy place...minimal on supplies, but not on fun!

See you soon!

Will I Love this Journal?

Hello, hello! It's Monday and that means we have a new challenge waiting for you at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.

When it comes to stamping, we have many favorite techniques. From stamping with mist, to embossing... and so much more! This week we want you to share a project that features one of your favorite techniques!

I chose to use a long time favorite technique of white heat embossing as a resist to dress up a new, and not yet used art journal...
Will this loved technique turn this into a journal that I will love for many days to come?
I believe it will!

A place to play...

And to doodle...

That's love, for sure!

Now, go get your crafty on and be sure to link-up with us! Every week a random winner is chosen to win a $50 spending spree from SimonSaysStamp.com.

It's the Little Things...

It really is. The little things, that is. Those are the things that I forget most easily, but I tend to wish I could remember most. And that, my friends, is exactly what I focused on for my August Family Portraits spread!
My friends at CATfile took the Month of August off for Holiday, so there were not formal sketches or prompts given. BUT, I am loving that I have an entry every month in this fun little album, so I made my own prompt of "The Little Things."
It really is good stuff!

I added plenty of their lovely stickers...
And, of course, the perfect piece of FLAIR doesn't hurt either...
And there we have it...
The Little Things... Documented!

And speaking of little things, I used some of the lovely cards from CATfile, as well as my hand laminator, to craft up this little mini-book for my daughter.
The laminator makes it a dry-erase book too!

Here is a little #FlipScrapGo I did of my process:

So fun, yes?
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out all the lovely Family Portrait goodies!

Inspired by Matisse...

Finding inspiration in non-scrappy places can really kick start the mojo! Plus, it can get you thinking in ways you normally wouldn't...
And that's exactly what I did...
Let's have a look...

So fun!
The next time you need a little extra mojo, perhaps look to some of the old masters for a bit of inspiration!

Remember to check out Cocoa Daisy for all the lovely goodies I used to make this page.
See you soon!

Stamping, Punching, and Rejoicing!

Hello, hello! It's Monday and that means we have a new challenge waiting for you at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.

This week we are stamping and punching!

Whether you use a die cut with coordinating stamp, use a paper punch on a background stamp, or stamp a pre-made diecut shape or alphabet sticker this week we want to see your projects that feature a punch or die cut with a stamp!

Here's my starting point...
Stamping on my craft mat? Nope! Embossing on acetate!

Then, I simply cut that into stars...

And turned them into a card!

Easy, simple, and BIG impact!
Rejoice!

Now, go get your crafty on and be sure to link-up with us! Every week a random winner is chosen to win a $50 spending spree from SimonSaysStamp.com.

Daydreaming with Cocoa Daisy...

Hi, Hi! September is here and that can only mean one thing...

Well, two things actually:
1. Fall is QUICKLY approaching... YAY!
2. It's time to share with you a new, and very lovely, Cocoa Daisy Kit!

I had lots of fun and made lots of stuff with the gorgeousness that is the "Daydream" kits!

Before I show you what I made, let's have a look at what I had to work with...

So many lovely things, yes?

And here is what I made...

First up, we have a simple fall inspired card...
For this next project, I was inspired by one of the old Masters... Matisse, to be exact. And, I will be sharing a process video over on the Cocoa Daisy Blog soon!

This next page is based on the sketch for this month:

For this next story that I wanted to tell, I didn't have any photos, so... the acetate triangles came in very handy to use as a focal point!

For this next page, I played with the exclusive Cocoa Daisy banner patterned paper to scrap about our newest addition...

And now, a little of my favorite white on kraft action...

Oh, there's our new little lady again...

And again! Can you tell we like her?

I had so much fun with the dip died tags from the Build Your Own Add On selections and you can see a bit of that here...

The September planner pages were perfection for documenting our new timelines that we are using for our homeschool...

This kit certainly did make me happy...

And last, but not least, lots of DITL card and painty fun on this page...

Another awesome month for Cocoa Daisy!
Be sure to head on over to their website to check out all the goodies!
