These 3...

Hello, hello! It's Monday and that means we have a new challenge waiting for you at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.
This week, anything goes! YAY!

I decided to dust off a fabulous, but seldom used supply...
The Tim Holtz Butterfly Die and Embossing set!

Here those lovely butterflies are, along with some fun and bright little papers...
And, I gotta tell ya... those butterflies pretty much make the page! I liked them just like that and I even liked the papers kinda piled up at the bottom. So, I went with it!

All I needed was my picture...
And a few embellishments...
Along with some watercolors and a title...
And there we have it!
I love a good excuse to play with an often neglected supply!
So, now it's your turn. Remember... anything goes. So, go get crafty and and link-up with us! Every week a random winner is chosen to win a $50 spending spree from SimonSaysStamp.com.

Mixed Media Beachyness..

Hello, hello! It's Monday and that means we have a new challenge waiting for you at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.

This week, we challenge you to find a piece of paradise. We are dreaming of sandy beaches and the sound of ocean waves, of sitting down to read a whole book and of quiet relaxation. Whether you’re inspired by a tropical shore, exotic travels, or simply want to play around with a new technique and be in a crafter’s paradise this week we invite you to share your creations and be inspired from a blissful place. Your personal happy place and paradise awaits…

I pulled my inspiration from beach houses this week. Staying in a quaint little home is perhaps one of my favorite parts of being at the beach. So, I decided to work up a little mixed media collage...
But, I gotta tell ya... I am still trying to find my mixed media footing. I am pretty comfortable combining photo, story, and embellishments... but, when the colors and media is going to stand alone... I still feel like I haven't completely found my comfort zone yet.

That being said, this piece took me on quite the adventure. Let's see what happened, shall we?

After working up the above, I decided I just wasn't liking it. When that happens, I just take scissors to paper and cut things up!
Then, I started collaging pieces of the first collage onto a new background...
Adding some lines...
And I kept on going until I had this. As you can see, I even photographed it and decided it was done. But... I just didn't like it. It kept bugging me.
So, new background cut and new stamps at the ready...
And it got cut up again! Into little tiny houses...
All in a row...
Some new stamping...
Some tiny wood pieces...
And there we have it!
A mixed media piece that I truly like...

Full of lovely color and texture!

Yay!

Now, you might be wondering why I didn't just show you the final piece... Well, where's the fun it that? Ha! Actually, the truth is that I wouldn't have gotten to the final piece without the first two versions. It's all part of the process.

So, now it's your turn! Go have fun, enjoy the process, and link-up with us! Every week a random winner is chosen to win a $50 spending spree from SimonSaysStamp.com.
