Canvas and Paste with some Mittens and Sun Hats...

Happy Monday! We have a new challenge for you up on the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge blog. This week are talking paste!

Stencils are all the rage, and we've noticed an increasing variety of paste mediums to go along with that. This week – we challenge you to get out your paste or stencils and make some texture on your project! Whether you’re a fan of gel mediums or embossing pastes, using gesso and a stencil to make texture or you just love ‘pasting’ bits of paper together decoupage style – let’s see what you can do!

I love building a page on 12x12 Sticky Back Canvas. And I love even more the tone-on-tone effect that plain Modeling Paste gives on this raw material...

I have chosen this stencil as it reminds me of both a sunshine and a snowflake... and since this layout is about how my Georgia-bred children dress up for the cold, it seemed quite appropriate!
Likey so! Isn't that pretty? And mixed with some of these fun bits, I think we are on our way to a lovely page...
While I wait for that paste to dry, I went ahead and put some of those scraps to use and made my own little prize ribbon embellishment. These are so much fun to make!
And now that the paste is indeed dry, let's add some color. I have marked out where my photo will be and now I am applying some watercolor. The paste makes the most interesting resist. Because it is somewhat porous in nature, it doesn't resist completely, but enough that a perfectly unpredictable contrast is achieved.
Now, I'm just layering my elements up...
 And placing the embellishments around...
Title time! One thing I have learned is that stickers do not love to stick to this canvas, especially tiny little letter stickers. So, I just spread out some Matte Medium and am going to apply my letters into that. This should hold them well and dry nice and clear.
Once all that was dry, I finished things off with some pencil lines and journaling on the photo...

And there we have it!
Lots of fun little bits and pieces...
 To go with my paste...
Alrighty! Now it's your turn. I can't wait to see how you get pasty this week. Go get crafty and link-up with us!

Every week a random winner is chosen to win a $50 spending spree from SimonSaysStamp.com.

How awesome is that?

Here is my supply list :)

  7. I love your artwork. You're amazing. The layering is awesome. And I like your funny, cute and endearing stories. I live in the northeastern part of the country so this was funny to me. (I also wanted to say that the last couple blog posts I tried to click on the supply item for the link, I'm not sure I'm saying it right, but anyway it comes up error in the link. Thought you should know). Michelle t

  15. Do you get sick of me saying "GENIUS!" to every single project you post?? I can't help it. I am such a fan of your style and this page is no exception. Your work is seriously always unique and is always inspiring. I even dragged my husband over to the computer screen to check out this one-- and he liked your page, too!
