Weaving Some Stripes...

Happy Monday! And, happy new challenge day over at Simon Says Stamp and Show. This week we are all about stripes...

Thick to thin, multi-colored or monochromatic, stripes are all over the place in any crafter’s supply stash. You can make your own out of strips of cardstock, buy papers, or even get a background striped stamp. If you’re feeling really adventurous you could cross your stripes and create a plaid.

And that's exactly what I decided to do! I have had tons of fun lately with paper weaving and I think today is another good day for that.

First, I just did a simple color wash on two sheets of white card stock using pink, orange, and yellow watercolors:

Then, I cut them into strips using my scissors. No measuring... just cutting...

And now for the weaving! All I did was take another sheet of white card stock, run adhesive on the top and the right side, and weave....

Ta Da! Oh, I LOVE how that looks!

After stitching a grid along each strip, I had fun just pulling bits and pieces from my stash to compliment my chosen photo:

Layering up...

Can you see those there? They are clear die cut butterflies that I created during my Heidi Swapp handmade embellishment extravaganza. I think the subtle effect of them will compliment this soft woven pattern nicely:

And indeed they do!
Some title work and stamping...
Along with some mist and such...

And there we have it!
A fun layout about my hubster's b-day...

Full of textured stripey goodness!
Alrighty! Now it's your turn to play. I can't wait to see how you interpret this fun challenge. Don't forget to link-up with us!

Remember... one lucky winner is chosen at random each week to win a $50 shopping spree from SimonSaysStamp.com
