Who Are You Foolin'?

Things are VERY strict this week at Simon Says Stamp and Show. We have several rules and requirements that you must meet in order to play along....

Oh just fooling! How could we do an April Fool’s Day challenge and make it something serious? No way - we’re totally playing around here this week and absolutely anything goes!

I decided to break open a package of something that had me fooled when I first received it. See these tags? Yes, the measurements are in the description. Yes, I am sure you know just how LARGE these tags are. But, I am not so good with numbers and to be honest with you I was quite surprised when I saw the ginormity of them!
See? There it is compared to a standard sized shipping tag. HA!
So.... What's a scrappy girl to do with such a thing? Well, since I am not in the mood to make a mini book and I am not much of an art journaler... I decided to just get down and dirty and PLAY, PLAY, PLAY!
Would you believe me when I told you that I was having so much fun that I forgot to take pictures of the step-by-steps? I hope so, because that is exactly what happened. Not to mention that I just kinda kept adding, sprinkling, blotting, spritzing, embossing, and well... you get the idea.

I had loads of fun and ended up with these:
Then, I picked my favorite tag from the above bunch, grabbed some die cuts, a background page, and my photo and set about scrapping:
I am loving these hearts lined up, but this isn't about Valentine's Day, so that bottom heart will need a little layering...
Ah yes! A hand-cut heart out of one of the other tags, layered up with a fabulous little Maggie Holmes bow:
And with that...
TA DA!
Loads of creative play with an unexpected supply...
LOVE it!

I can't wait to see what you do this week! Make sure to link-up with us for your chance to win! Remember, one random linker-upper is drawn to win a $50 shopping spree from Simon Says Stamp. How awesome is that?!?!

Oh yeah - if you would like to try your hand at something like the above... a complete supply list is below: (affiliate links used)

  5. Ashli...I am just amazed week after week how you start with what seems like a bunch of "stuff" and turn it into such intricate, fun layouts. Your use of the giant tag as a center of your layout is really clever. I also like the three mini tags tucked in behind the giant tag. Really cute journaling idea. All of your other embellishments, patterns, colors, etc. are beautifully laid out to create such a sweet scrapbook page. <3 Candy

    1. Hi Teddi! What are my favorite mists? Well... it depends on what I am after :)
      - For Spraying large areas and blending I like Mister Huey's combined with Heidi Swapp's Color Shine
      - For white, if I am after a lightly sprayed area I like Mister Huey's Calico White.
      - For white, not sprayed, I like white acrylic paint mixed with a bit of water and applied with a dabber.
      - For Misting and holding up to get drips I like Maya Mist or Dylusions for Ranger
      - For black droplets I like Mister Huey's Inky black because once it is dry, it can be doodled on
      - For colored and metallic drips I like Heidi's color shine
This is probably way more info that you were wanting... LOL! But, I do hope it helps :)
