Layout Love Linky - July 2012

It's been quite a month here at The Mailbox as we took a look back at My Creative Journey. While I was sharing a bit of history with you all, I was also busy scrapbooking and I am ready to share some un-blogged layouts! If you are new to Layout Love Linky, this is a place where we showcase some previously un-blogged projects or our recent favorites. We are not limited to layouts here, if you have something you want to share, link it up!

This past month we had an extra special prize in celebration of my scrapiversary month... A seat in one of Shimelle's classes. Did you win? You will have to scroll down to see :)

So, here we go:

As usual, many of the layouts you see here were scrapped for various challenges and/or sketches. Click on soapHOUSEscraps over there in the left to see all the details in my Two Peas Gallery.

Thanks to everyone who linked up last time! I hope your layouts received some love. If you haven't checked out the gorgeous link-ups, click on over here to take in some of this beauty:
Oh yeah...Who is the winner? So glad you asked... it's Kelly!

Check out her amazing LO! Seriously, this is beyond gorgeous. In fact, so are all of her projects! You really should check out her blog!
Kelly, I have sent you an email to get you all set up for Shimelle's class and I can't wait to send you your tag too! Yay for happy mail!

Alrighty - Let's party and share some love! Link up below and be sure to check back and share the love with everyone else too! A link back will put you in the prize drawing for next month! I am thinking I might just have to send out some new CHA goodies! You have a month to play along and I can't wait to see your un-blogged or most favorite projects.

Stampin' On Some Love

Oh, lookie there... who's this little guy? That's Simon reminding you that EVERY week you have the chance to win a $50 gift card for simonsaysstamp.com. Yep, every week! How amazing is that?
It's super easy to enter! All you have to do is link up with our theme of the week and include a link back. This week it's all about sentiments. So, what do you say? Why don't you try your hand at a sentiment or two and link up for the chance to win?

My favorite sentiment is "Love." Yep, I know that's predictable but I just can't help myself. So, I am thinking a little canvas to hang in the room that my daughter's share might just be in order.

After priming a salvaged canvas with gesso, I take my heat gun to it. Really this is because I am impatient, but I rationalize this by convincing myself that the bubbles will create nice texture. Go with me here, people...
OK, seems that didn't matter as now I am going to cover all of that up with some Basic Grey gorgeousness from their What's Up collection. A little matte medium on a brush does the trick:
To give this a nice worn look and to make the patterned paper "blend" into the canvas and not just float on top of it, I rub off areas with my finger while the matte medium is still wet:
Ahhhh, yes! I like it!
Now, for some contrast with a more graphic print in the collection:
Perfect, right along the edge there:
To brighten things up a bit, some white acrylic paint gets rubbed in:
Ta Da!
Now for our sentiment. I just love this simple stamp set from Ali Edwards. So versatile!
I also *LOVE* stamping words and shapes repeatedly to form more of a textural design element:
So pretty!
OK, let's embellish. A hand cut banner stitched on the edges might be nice, yes?
Oh, yes - love...
Some fussy cut flowers all nestled in:
A fun twine burst, a few wood hearts, and a touch of bling dresses things up nicely:
Time for some contrast with a bit of washi:
Oh yeah baby!
Now for the finishing touches. Sanding the edges:
Adding some sequins:
Swiping some gesso over the washi:
And, there we have it!
LOVE! My girls had such fun deciding where to hang this in their room. And, of course that made me a super happy mommy!

So, what type of sentiment do you fancy? Give it a go and show us over at Simon Says Stamp & Show. And, if you would like to do a little love canvas of your own, a complete supply list is below. (affiliate links used.)
