Spell It, Scrap It!

I LOVE Thickers. I do. Well, any alpha sticker for that matter. Mostly because I don't have an electronic die cutting machine. Also for the convenience. And well, because they are just fun! But, I open a pack, spell a few titles out, and then it sits. With each page I do, I flip past many a pack of alphas because they are lacking the letters I need. Frustrating. And a huge waste of space. I know I am not alone here. So, let's do something about that!

Here is one such package of letters. Or perhaps I should say what remains of these letters. They have been in my letter drawer for too long. I like them. I should use them. Let's play a little spelling game...
Look! Look at all those words I came up with. Now, I did turn some upside down, cut some, etc. But... those are recognizable words, people! Or, at least titles! YAY!
And here is a handy little list of all of them..
Back on the sticker sheet they go:
Then, I proceeded to use my pre-planned titles as prompts for pages. I scrapped this:
And this, which you saw recently in a Paper Issues hop:
 And this...
 And one of my faves:
And I liked that Starting Point so much and felt like doing another layout, but my brain was tired. So, I used it again!
That is 6 layouts out of 18 title prompts that I came up with from that one set of overly used alphas. Gotta love that! I think I may have to do this again... after all I have at least 20 (oh who am I kidding, I have at least twice that) sheets of alphas that could use a little once over...

  2. Very cool - thickers do make me nuts because they stick to everything but my layout. It has to be a scrapbookers plot. However, I carryon because I do love them. I think no matter how many letters they include - it'll still not be enough. Another scrapbookers code. LOL! Love your pages.

  13. Love this! I wish AC (and others) would cut out a few letter Qs and Zs and give me some more vowels!!! With this font, it worked out great to make As out of the Qs. :) I may or may not have this particular Thicker in all three of the colors it came out in. lol

  26. What a great plan to stay on top of random letter selections... I got a bag of gorgeous little beads with letters on, and worked out today that out of about 200 beads, there was one single solitary letter T - and I've just used that, so no more T words for me!! Great layouts as always... sorry so slow getting round to this, but I got a bit behind, and catching up is murder!!

  27. Found this link to your post on Scrappy Jedi. Such a motivating post - I want to go pour out some Thickers and spell words right now! Another alpha idea: you can put all the letters into a scrabble word finder site, and it will give you all the possible words from those letters. Super useful!

  28. Awesome!! I am always "McGyvering" new words from my alphas but I'd never thought of laying them all out to see what words I could spell and then using them as title ideas! Can't wait to get started!! Let LOAD6 begin!!
