Stampin' On Some Love

Oh, lookie there... who's this little guy? That's Simon reminding you that EVERY week you have the chance to win a $50 gift card for simonsaysstamp.com. Yep, every week! How amazing is that?
It's super easy to enter! All you have to do is link up with our theme of the week and include a link back. This week it's all about sentiments. So, what do you say? Why don't you try your hand at a sentiment or two and link up for the chance to win?

My favorite sentiment is "Love." Yep, I know that's predictable but I just can't help myself. So, I am thinking a little canvas to hang in the room that my daughter's share might just be in order.

After priming a salvaged canvas with gesso, I take my heat gun to it. Really this is because I am impatient, but I rationalize this by convincing myself that the bubbles will create nice texture. Go with me here, people...
OK, seems that didn't matter as now I am going to cover all of that up with some Basic Grey gorgeousness from their What's Up collection. A little matte medium on a brush does the trick:
To give this a nice worn look and to make the patterned paper "blend" into the canvas and not just float on top of it, I rub off areas with my finger while the matte medium is still wet:
Ahhhh, yes! I like it!
Now, for some contrast with a more graphic print in the collection:
Perfect, right along the edge there:
To brighten things up a bit, some white acrylic paint gets rubbed in:
Ta Da!
Now for our sentiment. I just love this simple stamp set from Ali Edwards. So versatile!
I also *LOVE* stamping words and shapes repeatedly to form more of a textural design element:
So pretty!
OK, let's embellish. A hand cut banner stitched on the edges might be nice, yes?
Oh, yes - love...
Some fussy cut flowers all nestled in:
A fun twine burst, a few wood hearts, and a touch of bling dresses things up nicely:
Time for some contrast with a bit of washi:
Oh yeah baby!
Now for the finishing touches. Sanding the edges:
Adding some sequins:
Swiping some gesso over the washi:
And, there we have it!
LOVE! My girls had such fun deciding where to hang this in their room. And, of course that made me a super happy mommy!

So, what type of sentiment do you fancy? Give it a go and show us over at Simon Says Stamp & Show. And, if you would like to do a little love canvas of your own, a complete supply list is below. (affiliate links used.)
