My Loves...A Valentine's Day Mini

When I saw Amy Tangerine's Daybooks, I fell in love! What a fabulous concept! Loads of beautiful papers in different shapes and sizes all in one sewn up little package. I decided to give it a go with some valentine papers and such from my stash. You may have already seen this in the gallery at Two Peas, but in celebration of Valentine's Day next week, I thought I would share it here.

The book is titled "My Loves" and is all about the people in my family and what I love about them right now.

The cover is constructed of woven paper scraps from another project. I then did some messy sewing and went wild with washi - I just love that stuff! I love that when layered collage syte, it gives both a painterly and sketchy feeling to a project, and that makes me happy. Once I had applied all of the washi and alphas, I went over the top with a coat of acrylic gel medium for durability. To finish off the cover, I glued a felt flower from House of Three onto a curled and distressed circle of patterned paper.
Some doubled up bakers twine functions as the tie.
For the interior, I simply grabbed a bunch of papers from my stash in reds, pinks, blues and grays. A doily made it's way in there too. Then, I cut them into various shapes and sizes, folded them in half, and ran a seam down the middle.
Of course, I had lots of fun decorating and embellishing...

Each person has their own little note from me with all the details of why I love them.

A sketchy heart punctuates the back cover. The best part about this project was not over-thinking things. I almost had a "smashbook" mentality, just adding bits of this and that with touches of tape, clips, and doodling. I had so much fun, I think I will make this an annual Valentine's craft project.

Thanks for reading and Happy Valentine's Day!!!
